Crete , 1527 : Georgios Kantanoleon declared his revolution against the Venetian rulers of the island. The rebel forces soon occupied a lot of western territories . Petros, the son of Kantanoleon was in love with Francesco Da Molin's daughter , Sofia. Kantanoleon asked the hand of the the Venetian noble 's daughter for his son and the wedding was agreed . The day of the wedding Kantanoleon arrived in Da Molin 's tower with 350 men and 100 women and the ceremony begun . The guests were offered wine with sleeping pills. After they fell asleep , 2000 Venetian soldiers entered the tower , slaughtered everyone and hanged one rebel body every half a mile on the road leading from Chania to Rethymno ...
